My path to data analytics wasn’t a straight line. I was originally hired as an Operations Support Manager, focusing on field operations and policies. Early on, I noticed a gap—a white space—in how data was reported to field managers and internal teams. While it wasn’t part of my job description, I couldn’t resist the opportunity to improve how insights were shared. This curiosity eventually led me to discover Power BI in 2019, marking the true beginning of my journey into business intelligence, visualizations, and large-scale analytics.
At the time, I knew nothing about Power BI or DAX, but I was determined to learn. Using resources like Udemy and Guy in a Cube on YouTube, I taught myself how to use the tool and built our first field manager reporting BI app in just four months. That initial dashboard may have been basic, but it was a vast improvement over our previous processes. It revolutionized how data was communicated throughout the organization, sparking a company-wide transformation.
What started as a single dashboard soon expanded into opportunities to support other divisions, including recruiting, finance, associate call centers, and HR. My role evolved from delivering high-level insights to creating granular, exception-based reporting that empowered managers to identify and address challenges proactively. Over time, I became a sought-after collaborator across the company, and my passion for turning data into actionable strategies became the core of my work. Those early efforts with Power BI not only improved business outcomes but also solidified my love for leveraging analytics to drive meaningful change.
